Liz was born December 13, 1925 in Macon County, MO to George and Amelia Sulhoff. She graduated from Macon High School in 1943 and married George Strong in 1949. George and Liz moved to Columbia in the early 1950’s. They were small business owners and retired from GM Supply Company in 1986. They were proud charter members of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church.
Liz is survived by her children Lisa (Jim) Chastain of Acton, MA; Michael (Alisa) Strong of Columbia; and Lori (Nick) Goeke of Jefferson City. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jessica (Bryan) McClean, Ben Goeke, Eva Chastain, and Sam Goeke, as well as great-grandson Eli McClean. Preceding her in death were her parents, daughter Leslie, brother Emery, and sister Marjorie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Heisinger Bluffs Benevolent Care Fund or Hospice Compassus, Jefferson City. The family would like to thank Liz’s caregivers at Heisinger Bluffs, St. Joseph’s Bluffs, and Capitol Region Medical Center who took such great care of her over the last several months.
