Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Morningside Lutheran Church, 700 Martha Street, in Sioux City. A reception will follow at the church hall but there will be no visitation. The Rev. Connie was born on Aug. 12, 1926, in Sioux City, to Edwin and Johanna Johnson and baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church. She attended Sioux City Public Schools and graduated from Central High School in 1944. During World War II, she worked in local meat processing and battery plants. She graduated from the Nebraska State Teachers College in Wayne, Neb. in 1948.

She married Robert on June 18, 1949, with whom they have shared their love of each other and music for more than 69 years. After college, she taught in Sioux City elementary schools and a junior high library. Her husband fondly referred to her as "Friend Wife" and her children have always relied on their steadfast mom.

Connie was accomplished as piano accompanist, church organist, youth and bell choir leader, Sunday School teacher and deaconess. She volunteered in numerous civic ministries including Meals-on-Wheels and concerts at area nursing homes. Her deep love of Jesus Christ was evident in her service to others.

Connie is survived by her husband, Robert R. Hansen of Sioux City; daughter, Seri Boettcher of Tucson, Ariz.; sons, William "Bill" Hansen of Overland Park, Kan., and Jon (Pamela) Hansen of Greenville, Texas; brother, Raymond E. Johnson of Kansas City, Mo.; her three grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, Edwin L. and Johanna B. (Sommervold) Johnson.

The family would like to thank Morningside Lutheran and Sunrise Retirement Living for their care and ministry of love to Connie. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Unbound, P.O. Box 219114, Kansas City, MO 64121.
