Pauline Ann “Polly” English-Ramsay, 70, of Swanton, MD, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at her home.

Born July 18, 1947, in Boston, Lincolnshire, England, she was the daughter of the late Eric and Isabelle (Jacques) English. She was also preceded in death by her husband Walter Gaines Ramsay.

Polly was a school teacher, having taught in England, Afghanistan, Bethesda, MD, Bloomington, MD and retired from teaching after many years at Southern Middle School. She loved her pets and had a fondness for travel.

She is survived by her son, Chris English-Ramsay, Piedmont, WV; a foster son, Donnie Manning, Hagerstown, MD; a dear friend, Dr. Jeff Reitz, McHenry, MD; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, on Monday, July 23, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. According to her wishes she was cremated.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Hart for Animals, Inc, 1265 Bumble Bee RD., Accident, MD 21520 or to Hospice of Garrett, P.O. Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550.
