James G. Herman, 72, Ashwaubenon, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2006 at a local hospital. He was born on August 22, 1934 in Manitowoc to the late Walter and Barbara (Sickinger) Herman. After graduating from high school, Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1953-55. He graduated from UW-Oshkosh in 1961 and later earned his masters degree from Florida State University.

On September 8, 1979, he married the former Judy Kampo.

Jim was an elementary school teacher for the Green Bay School District, starting at Beaumont and retiring from MacArthur in 1996. Fall was Jim's favorite time of year. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, walking, reading and crossword puzzles as well golfing and time spent on his computer.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Judy; one son and daughter-in-law: Jeff and Joy Herman, Green Bay; two daughters: Lisa Herman, Green Bay, and Marilee Herman, Las Vegas; one step-daughter and son-in-law: Deborah and Mike Lawniczak, Sobieski; nine grandchildren: Andrew and Carrie Herman, Jacob and Katie Promise, Keith Littles, and Jason, Aaron, Amber and Ryan Lawniczak; one great granddaughter, Eliza; five brother and sisters: Lee Herman, Wauawtosa, Evelyn Meyer, Manitowoc, Vi (Ken) Peterson, Appleton, Jerry (Karen) Herman, Manitowoc, and Joyce (Gary) Kotchi, Roscommon, MI; two sisters-in-law: Sharon (Mike) Blindauer, Green Bay, and Susie (Tom) Saueressig, West Bend; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother, one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law.

Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2771 Oakwood Drive, where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 5:00 p.m. with Msgr. James Dillenberg officiating. Interment in Fort Howard Memorial Park. A memorial fund has been established.--Lyndahl Funeral Home and Cremation Services
