Richard Lee Adkins of Marion, Ohio was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on October 2, 2018 in the presence of his loving family.
Born May 7, 1951 in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late Edard Adkins and Vida Bentley Adkins Rose. After serving proudly in the U.S.Army, Richard returned to the Marion, Ohio area where he lived out the rest of his life. He never met a stranger and he always remembered your name, even if you met only once. Richard would take on every adversity with a smile and the determination of a fighter and overcome.
He was preceded in death by his father; Edard Adkins, stepfather; George Rose, brother; Randy Adkins, and nephew; James Adkins. Richard is survived by his mother; Vida Rose, 3 sisters; Faye (Monroe) Coleman of Pike Co., KY., Bobbie (Joseph) LeMasters of Prospect, OH., & Jayne Bush of Marion, OH., 3 brothers; Perry (Rebecca) Adkins of Houston, TX., Dallas (Linda) Adkins of Houston, TX., & Bruce (Elizabeth) Adkins of Bartlett, TN., 17 nieces & nephews, 22 great nieces & nephews, and 6 great great nieces & nephews.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Lena Gibson, Ohio Health Hospice, Community Nursing Center, and the many loving and caring nurses that made his last days so comfortable. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Saturday, October 6, 2018, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Rev. Joseph LeMasters will conduct the funeral service in the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 8th at 10:00 AM with burial to follow in the Grand Prairie Cemetery where military rites will be provided by the Marion Co. Veterans Council.
