Opera Singer. Born María de Montserrat Viviana Concepción Caballé i Folch, and graduated at the Conservatory of Barcelona, she debuted (1957) in Boheme, Tosca, Aida, Arabella, Salome. Considered one of the important protagonists of the melodrama, during her career she performed in prestigious international theaters including Carnegie Hall, Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House and Opéra national de Paris. Her greatest performances were " La traviata", " Un ballo in maschera", "La forza del destino". Caballè had a fondness for musicians such as Mozart, Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Wagner. She died after a long illness at the age of 85.
