Deborah Jean McCoy, 50, died Thursday May 3, 2018 at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. She was born June 8, 1967, to Boyce Wayne Palmer and Doris Jean Stanford Palmer.

Deborah was a fifth grade teacher for Tupelo Public Schools; she was serving students at Rankin Elementary. A seasoned educator, with 19 years of experience, she always took great pride in the success of her students. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from The University of Mississippi followed by acquiring her National Board Certification. She holds a dyslexia specialist certification to further support her students.

When not in the classroom, she was well known for being a loving wife, supportive and self-less mother, devoted grandmother, and loyal sister. She was the glue that held the family together, and her love for party planning is evident during birthdays and holidays.

Deborah enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors, and travelling. While lovingly mischievous, she consistently provided a calm voice of reason for friends and family. She had a genuine love for life and laughter.

Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Ronnie McCoy of Tupelo; four children, Shey Washburn and her husband, Luke, of Meridian, Hunter Riley of Baldwyn, Houston McCoy of Tupelo and Andrew McCoy of Tupelo; her mother Jean Palmer of Tupelo; five grandchildren, Rayleigh Riley, Hayden McCoy, Reese Washburn, Gavynn Riley, Logan Washburn and two brothers, Tony Palmer and his wife, Vicki, of Tupelo and Trevor Palmer and his wife, Heather of Blue Springs.

Preceded by her father Boyce Wayne Palmer.
