F. Lucille Baker, 98, a resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove, formerly of rural Martinsburg, passed away Thursday morning, October 4, 2018 at the home.
She was born along Piney Creek, rural Martinsburg, daughter of the late Eldie L. Sr. and Harriet M. (Mock) Smith.
On August 31, 1938 she married James H. Baker in Cumberland, MD. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1994.
Surviving are a son, Gary W. Baker (wife, Nancy) of rural Martinsburg; a daughter, Pam J. Leedy (Bob) of Derwood, MD; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, H. Betty Feath of Martinsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two daughters: Sally Ann Hoover and Connie J. Baker; three sons: J. Ronald, J. Donald and R. Gerald “Jerry”; two brothers: Glen M. Smith and Eldie L. Smith Jr.; and five sisters: Gladys Weaver, Marian Smith, Lillian Wineland, Ola Furry and Lois Cowan.
Lucille was a 1938 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg. She was a longtime, faithful member of Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren, where she served as a Deacon Emeritus and was also a member of the Cheerful Daughters Sunday school class.
She assisted her husband, Jim with the daily operation of their dairy farm in rural Martinsburg. Lucille enjoyed traveling, making ceramics and was an exceptionally good baker and cook.
Friends will be received from 10am until the 11am funeral service, Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren, Chaplain Linda Banaszak and Pastor Chris Garretson officiating.
Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren, 210 N. Wall St., Martinsburg, PA 16662 or The Village at Morrisons Cove (Good Samaritan Fund), 429 S. Market St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
