Lance David Murphy
March 6, 1957 - September 27, 2018

Lance David Murphy, fashion connoisseur, former PTA President, self-proclaimed comedian, and world-renowned conversationalist peacefully transitioned into the Lord’s Hands, the morning of September 27th, 2018 in his Roseville Home. He now joins his mother, Edna Hunt-Murphy; father, Warren Murphy Sr.; and sister, Joanne Murphy in heaven where he can continue to do all the things that he loved most.

Beyond channel flipping between Family Feud and Judge Judy on TV, Lance loved playing and coaching sports, jamming with his church band, and socializing with everyone he met. He was truly a beacon of light that could overshadow even the darkest of times.

Once diagnosed with cancer in 2007, Lance approached every day with strength, optimism, and his special brand of humor that was sure to keep family, friends, and nurses laughing. Only Lance could turn a chemotherapy appointment into something worth smiling about.

Among many things, Lance excelled at remembering birthdays, protecting his home from spiders, cheering on his kids from the sidelines at sporting events, and singing all the words to “Purple Rain,” in perfect key.

Lance’s memory and light live on through his best friend Tina; his children Amber, Ryan, Devin, and Dayna; his siblings Robert (Shirley), Warren Jr. (Loan), Steve (Daria), Kenneth, Stacey and Alison (Anthony); his grandchildren Kierah, Michael, Kemara, and Jacob; and through all the friends he met along the way. May we all feel comfort knowing our lives have been enriched by having shared his love.
