Neal Abernathy, who owned Precision Tune in Pinole, died Wednesday at home from gunshot wounds. He was 43.
The Stockton native was a longtime West County resident and prior resident of Sonora. He was a member of the Pinole Chamber of Commerce, the Better Business Bureau, the Society of Creative Anachronism and the National Register of Historic Preservation.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Abernathy of Hercules; mother, Marla Abernathy of Sonora; father and stepmother, Monte and Jan Abernathy of Sonora; sister, Elaine Urruty of Murphys; brother, Jon Abernathy of Sonora; and grandmother, Reba Stephens of Red Bluff.
Services: Memorial, 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of El Sobrante, with the Rev. Calvin Nation officiating. Burial will be at Mountain Shadow Cemetery in Sonora on March 3. Terzich & Wilson Funeral Home in Sonora handled arrangements.
