According to the 1905 Duncan Family Register, Sarah Catharine Duncan and Richard Alexander Stone lived in Marion County, Missouri, for the first five years of their marriage. In 1857, they relocated to a farm near Waco, Texas, with their two daughters, Catharine Isabella Stone and Mary Nurse Stone. Sarah Catharine's brother William Edward Duncan accompanied the family. A third daughter, Virginia Frances Stone, was born in Texas on December 29, 1858. Sarah Catherine Duncan was widowed in June 1861. She died in February 1864 and was buried at an unknown cemetery in Waco. Her three young daughters returned to family in Missouri.
