Linda Louise Stanley was born on January 7, 1950 in Miami, FL to Catherine Howard Stanley and James Holland Stanley. Linda's father was working for Independent Life & Accident Insurance Company in Miami. In 1954, the family moved to Jacksonville, FL where her father took a position in the Independent Life home office. Linda's grandfather, J. Arthur Howard, was one of the seven founders of Independent Life.

Linda grew up in the Southside area of Jacksonville and her family was one of the first to live in the newly developed Deerwood community. She attended Southside Baptist Church and later on Deermeadows Baptist Church of which her father had helped found.

Linda graduated from Wolfson High School in 1968 and then went on to attend Valdosta State College where she received a degree in sociology and anthropology. She was a member of Phi Mu Sorority.

Upon graduation, Linda took a position in the Public Relations Department at Independent Life. In the next stage of her professional life she became a partner and later sole proprietor of The Wardrobe. The women's clothing store was originally located in Lakewood and later moved to San Marco. Traveling was always a favorite of Linda's. She spent quite a bit of time in New York City and in Maine where she owned a second home for awhile. In 1993, her son James was born and so began a new chapter of her life. James brought her happiness and joy as he grew. He took care of and watched over her these past few months.

Sadly, Linda's life came to an end on the afternoon of October 3, 2018. She had a generous heart and lived a full and colorful life. She was predeceased by her father in 1982 and her mother in 2004. She is survived by her loving son James Howard Stanley and numerous cousins.
