(now W.V.), he married Isabella Walker, who was born in 1800 near Wheeling, Augusta Co., Va. (now Ohio Co., W.V.). She was one of 14 children (3 sons and 11 daughters) of John Walker, an Irish weaver and a small man who died at age 100, and his 300-pound Scottish wife whose maiden name was Rollin and who died at age 97.66 Alexander and Isabella had one son and one daughter—John Walker and Marguerite. In the 1820s and 1830s, the family was living in Wolf Creek Twp., Mercer Co., Pa., where Alexander was a farmer and a merchant, opening the first store in Centertown, Wolf Creek Twp., in the 1830s. By 1840, they had moved to Coolspring Twp., Mercer Co., where Isabella died on 18 Jul 1844. She is buried at Old Presbyterian Cemetery in Mercer, Pa.

About 1846, Alexander married Mrs. Tamar Hubley Chenoweth, who was born on 8 May 1804 in York Co., Pa., a daughter of Revolutionary War Veteran Bernard Hubley (1754-1810) and Elizabeth McCalla (1769-1842). Tamar was a widow of Richard Chenoweth, with whom she had one daughter, Elizabeth Hubley Chenoweth (1834-1915) who married Francis M. "Frank" Criswell (1824-1909) and had eight children--4 sons and 4 daughters--John, Richard, Anna Margaret, Catharine "Kate," Ruth E., Rebecca, James H. and Joseph E. Alexander and Tamar moved to New Castle, Lawrence Co., Pa., where Alexander was elected assessor in 1853 and 1859. They had one son—Alexander Hubley. Tamar died on 8 Mar 1854, and her will, probated on 9 Mar 1856 in Lawrence Co., bequeathed the “Bernard Hubley property” to her husband, Alexander.

As recorded in the Lawrence Journal, Alexander was married a third time on 23 Oct 1854 in Liberty Twp., Mercer Co., Pa., to Mrs. Ellen Morrison, who was born in 1825 in Pa., and who had one son—John Thomas Morrison (b. 26 Feb 1853, Lawrence Co., Pa.; d. 28 Feb 1933, Syracuse, Kosciusko Co., In.). At the time of the 1860 Census, Alexander and Ellen Riddell [sic] and her son, John Morrison, were living in Allegheny (now North Side Pittsburgh), Allegheny Co., Pa., where Alexander was a peddler. In 1870, Alexander (but not Ellen) was living with his son, John Walker Riddle, and family in Utica, Venango Co., Pa.; in 1870, Ellen was married to Michael "Max" Marks, and they were living in Kosciusko Co., In. Ellen's Morrison son used the last name Riddle, as do his descendants. Ellen’s fourth marriage was to John Hayes. Alexander is buried at Old Presbyterian Cemetery in Mercer, Pa.
