Benjamin Leslie Stewart of Ickesburg, PA, peacefully in the presence of family and friends, went home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2018 at the age of 65.

Ben was born on January 24, 1953 in Harrisburg, PA.

He graduated from John Harris High School in 1970 and joined the Air Force in the same year. He served as a Sergeant in Vietnam with the 6994th Security Squadron where he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, three Air Medals, and two Vietnam Service Campaign Medals.

After Vietnam, Ben returned to Pennsylvania and worked at NAVSUP for over 40 years as a supervisor in Casualty Reports and Foreign Military Sales before retiring. It was there that he met his wife Susan Elizabeth Harlan. They were married on February 19, 1977.

Ben was a dedicated volunteer and loved his community. He was a member of Church of the Living Christ of Loysville, PA where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, and Elder. He served as President of the PTO for Blain Elementary, President of West Perry Midget Football, Ickesburg Lions Club, and member of Gideons International. He ministered to Sonshine Ministries, Loysville, PA, and continued to minister to the medical staff, as a patient, until the day he died.

Ben was a loving son, husband, father, and brother.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Louise Stewart of Harrisburg.

He is survived by his wife Susan Stewart of 41 years; his three sons: Benjamin L. Stewart II (Angela), Wade J. Stewart (Amy), Alex D. Stewart (Cheryl); five grandchildren: Benjamin, David, Connor, Sophia, Audrey; three sisters: Jackie (Joe), Sherry, Cassandra (Dennis); nephews: Shawn (Holly) Funk, Brian (Anne-Marie) Funk, Anson Amour; great-nephew Brendan; and great-nieces Lauren and Danella.

A funeral service was held to honor him at the Church of the Living Christ of Loysville on October 6, 2018. Memorial donations can be made to Gideons International.
