She was born in 1936 in Ellisville, MS to Leroy Powell and Lena Cranford.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Curtis D. Green; daughter, Barbara Gatewood; parents, Leroy and Lena Powell; brothers, Roy Powell, Elson Powell, Dub Powell; sisters, Christine Louk, Martha Chancellor; brother-in-law, Bob Louk; and sisters-in-law, Ann Powell, Margie Powell, and Ola Powell.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Mahaffey (David), Susan van Ginneken (Tony); grandchildren, Melanie Jones (Barry), Don Haley (Julie), Heather Williams (Brian), Jake Harshbarger (Nikki), Jennifer Stephens (Dan), Pat Green (Jenny), Matthew van Ginneken; 17 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Tim Gatewood; brothers, Bill Powell, Hollis Powell, Tommy Powell (Brenda); sisters, Betty Sue Holland (Gil), and Mary Parker (Buck); brother-in-law, Ernest Chancellor; sister-in-law, Bobbie Powell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was an avid quilter and gardener, and was a military wife for 22 years.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS with visitation starting at 9:30 AM.
A private interment will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery.
