Oliver’s education was entrusted to the Queen Anne’s County School System, where he attended until he was 16 years of age, then enlisted into the Army for two years. When he returned home, he moved to New York. From there, he worked in the garment industry for a couple of years, then took a position with the Transit-Subway System of New York, retiring after 65 years of service.
Oliver enjoyed the fun times in Puerto Rico with his lifelong friends. He also loved traveling to Aruba.
Oliver married Gloria Deedon, from Centreville, Maryland and after their divorce, he married Celester Patterson, now deceased, from Alabama. Later, he moved back to Maryland, where he resided with his brother/nephew, William Hollis, Jr.
Oliver was preceded in death by siblings, James “Book”, Arthur, Charles, Robert, Emma, Catherine, Elizabeth, Doris, Lucy, and Gladys .
Oliver leaves to cherish his memories, daughter, Darlene Woolford of Centreville, MD; his first wife, Deedon; two grandchildren, Robert U. Miller (Meredith) of Silver Spring, Maryland and Shundraea Williams of Centreville, Maryland.; three great-grandchildren, Daria Sewel of Dover, Delaware, and Jamari and Karia Miller of Silver Spring, Maryland; a brother, George “Buck” Pritchett of Annapolis, Maryland; best, lifelong friend, Francisco Leon; two godsons, Edgar and Luis Leon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
