Barbara was born May 20, 1937 in Flora, the daughter of Orvel and Valentine (Durand) Peavler.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack Block; two sons: Randy (Susan) Block of Flora and their two daughters: Jennie Block and Jackie (Justin) Akers, and Jeff (Jessica) Block of Pensacola, Florida and their children: Elizabeth Block and Nicholas Baggett; and two great-grandchildren: Jay and Kali of Carbondale.
She was preceded in death by one infant brother: Orvel Francis
Barbara was an avid traveler and camper. Barbara and Jack have spent the last 16 years snow birding and enjoying life in Gulf Shores, Alabama, where they have met many great friends. Barbara had a love for flowers and an even greater love for dogs.
She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Flora, Illinois, and Bayside Baptist Church in Lillian, Alabama. Barbara will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice or CCARS (Clay County Animal Rescue & Shelter).
