Janet Kathleen “Kathy” Webster, born January 31st, 1956, in Santa Ana, California to William June Henslee and LaVeta Sue McDermett passed away peacefully on September 25th, 2018, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Kathy attended Tokay High School in Lodi, California where she excelled as a student. She was involved with the Church of Christ where she met her husband of 20 years, Michael Johnson, and together they had two daughters and a son. She played softball as a young woman, being one of the few who ran to third base by accident. To Kathy, being a mother and grandmother were the most important roles in her life and she took tremendous pride in doing so. She held various occupations that included working for Lifetouch National School Studios, Air Life Line, and Grebitus and Sons Jewelers, where she met her second husband, John Webster. Until his passing in February of 2006,

Kathy and John always teasingly and affectionately referred to each other as “My Girlfriend,” and “My Boyfriend.” She was instrumental in helping to raise six grandchildren and there is nothing she loved more than being “Grandma.” You would typically find Kathy on the sidelines of a soccer field, the bleachers of a baseball diamond, the finish line of a ridiculously long run, or at a weekend nightclub; always in support of her children and grandchildren. Kathy was a member of the Bayside Church in Citrus Heights where her undaunted courage and upbeat attitude earned her many friends who provided much appreciated support and encouragement during her long battle with cancer. She enjoyed worshipping and attending social events, especially music concerts when she could.

Throughout her life, Kathy fought for what she believed in and always smiled, laughed, and loved her way through the challenges that came her way. She touched the lives of everyone she met and was a true lady, just like her mother before her.

Kathy came from a very large family where she enjoyed a special relationship with each person. Absolutely nothing meant more to Kathy than family. She is survived by her daughter Melissa Johnson, her daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Matt Paglia, and her son, Kevin Johnson. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Jacob and Rebekah Flores, Natalie, Dylan, and Maya Paglia, and Benjamin Johnson. Kathy is also survived by her “Seester” Sharron Sanders, brother in-law Rick Sanders and her brother, Gary Henslee.

Kathy was a beacon of light, love, and hope up until the very end. She will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Kathy’s celebration of life services will be held on October 6, 2018. The initial service will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, located at 8201 Greenback Ln, Fair Oaks, CA 95628. The program will begin at 11 am. There will also be a reception immediately following that will be held at the Carmichael Recreation and Park District’s Community Clubhouse, located at 5750 Grant Avenue, Carmichael, CA 95608. Please join us in celebration of Kathy’s life.
