Kermit was born in Eldred Township, on April 13, 1930, a son of the late Katie (Snyder) and Felix Deitrich.
He was preceded in death by his wife of Pauline M (Harring) Deitrich, who passed away August 17, 2001.
He was a graduate of the Hegins Township High School and served as a Cook in the US Army.
He was employed as a mill operator at the former Agway in Klingerstown.
Kermit was a member of St. Paul's E.C. Church and played on its softball team. He was also a member of the Mahantongo Fire Company.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and watching sports.
Kermit is survived by two daughters, Skye L. Edling, of Hegins; and Teah L., wife of John Motsney, of Ashland; a son,Tori L., husband of Christine Deitrich, of Hegins; four grandchildren, Justin Edling, Kimberly Blesse, Kelly Deitrich and Ethan Motsney; two step grandchildren, John Motsney and Adam Motsney. Two Great Grandchildren Landon and Parker Blesse; two sisters, Ruby Zerbe and Orpha Troutman; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Leonard Deitrich and Kenneth "Drum" Deitrich, and a sister Daisy Ely.
Viewing will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 10-11 AM at St. Paul's E.C. Church Pitman, where the funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Pastor Todd Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery.
