Obituary for Marie P Adams (McGee)

Marie P. McGee Adams, age 92, of Temple passed from this life on the afternoon of Saturday, November 10, 2018 at a local nursing home. She was born on the 25th day of February 1926 in Newark, New Jersey to parents Hugh T. and Helen (Smyth) Campbell.

In her earlier years Mrs. Adams attended school and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in New, Jersey. She married William J. McGee in 1947. After Williams passing in 1983 she would go on to marry Mr. Jack Adams in 1995. Mrs. Adams was a longtime resident of Temple having moved here from New Providence, New Jersey in 1965. She had been very active as a parishioner at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Temple as well as dedicated many volunteer hours to King's Daughter Hospital. Mrs. Adams was active in the Elks Lodge as an elected President of the Does as well as member of TOPS and Tanglefoot. Mrs. Adams retired from a management career at Sears Roebuck and Co.

Mrs. Adams is preceded in death by her first husband William in 1983 and by her last husband Jack in 1997 as well as her parents, 1 son William James McGee III as well as 2 sisters Peggy Rodgers and Helen Campbell.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Helen Dwyer of New Providence, NJ, Maureen Ciriello of Temple, Kathy McDonald (John) of San Antonio, Patti Henderson (Franklin) of Moffat, Colleen Hayes (Billy) of Skiatook, OK and Eileen Scott (Robert) of Temple. She also leaves a step-daughter Elaine Adams Hart (Lou) of Anderson, SC.

Grandchildren left behind include Kelly Dwyer Parenti (Chris) of Middletown, NJ, Allison Dwyer Santry (Josh) of Fanwood, NJ, Richie Dwyer (Jennifer) of New Providence, NJ, Lisa Ciriello Smith (Conrad) of Parkland, FL, Molly McDonald Nichols (Dustin) of Marion, TX, Bonnie McDonald Grubbs (Alex) of Brooklyn, NY, BJ McDonald of San Antonio, TX, Amy Henderson of Oklahoma City, OK, Billy Hayes (Nicole) of Tulsa, OK, Jeffrey Scott (Jodi) of Oklahoma City, OK, Justin Scott of Bryan–College Station, TX, Jennifer Kinere (Bruce) of Anderson, SC and Allison Hart of Carlsbad, CA.

Great-grandchildren include Jackson Parenti, Emma Santry, Richie and Logan Dwyer, Connor Smith, Luke, Sydney, Adaline and James Nichols, Anderson and Heidi Scott, Austin, Alex and Adam Kinere as well as many nieces, nephews and friends she has made throughout her life.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Temple on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 1 PM. The family will be accepting visitors at the funeral home on Friday, November 30 between the hours of 4-7 PM with the Rosary starting at 6 PM.

Our family would like to extend a special thanks to the Baylor Scott & White Hospice, the staff at Wellington Place Nursing and Rehab and to her caregiver Gretchen Henry for her time that she dedicated to our mother.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America in honor of Mrs. Adams.
