Frank Ray, age 85, Joplin, MO, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018.
He was born April 12, 1933 in Henryetta, OK, to the late Sam Ray and Minnie Long Ray.
Frank worked in the automotive industry as a part picker for General Motors for over 30 years.
Frank believed in good health and exercised his entire life. He joined the Navy to fight in the Korean War. He loved life, spending each day with family and friends. He enjoyed helping others in need. He attended the Joplin Seventh-day Adventist Church.
He graduated from Seneca Indian School in Seneca, MO.
He married Alice Jean McPherson on June 7, 1953 in Fort Madison, IA. They later divorced and remained very close friends. She survives in Colorado.
In addition to his close friend Alice, he is survived by two daughters, Lana Anderson and husband, John, Cheyenne, WY, Tammie Ray and partner, Michael Jeff, Aurora, CO; a son, Mark Lavino, wife Phyllis, Colona, IL; seven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one brother, Jack Ray and wife, Judy, Joplin; three sisters, Grace Prince, Las Vegas, NV, Helen French and husband, Bob, and Sue Rineholt, both of Joplin; a very close niece, Jacqueline Gates and husband, Fred, Seneca, MO; and many nieces and nephews that loved their uncle Frank.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
