While riding on the back of a motor truck at Nungarin on Saturday December 9, 1933, A. G. Ayton (27), fell to the ground and was instantly killed, his neck being broken in the fall
He was formerly head teacher at the Mangowine State School, from which he resigned in order to take a position in the Nungarin Roads Board Office.
Recently he was appointed secretary of the new Mukinbudin Roads Board, and he intended taking on his new duties this week.
Alfred was not married. He had been engaged to be married before the accident.
