Loretta E. Askey Lucas July 26, 1925 September 29, 2018 Loretta E. Askey Lucas, 93, formerly of Spring Mills, entered into the presence of Jesus, on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Centre Crest. Loretta was born on July 26, 1925, in Philipsburg, the daughter of the late Mary Eva Askey (Brobeck). On September 25, 1945, she married Boyd D. Lucas who preceded her in death on February 22, 2008. Loretta is survived by her daughters Carol Ann (Reverend Michael) Hoskins, of Bellefonte, Cathy M. Long, of Allenwood and Mary L. (Carl, "Ed") Lucas, of Windburne. Also surviving Loretta are her three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Along with her mother and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Boyd A. (Sonny) Lucas in August of 1972; her granddaughter, Mindy Lucas; her grandson, Boyd L. Lucas; and her two sisters, Elizabeth Young and Mildred Conklin. Loretta graduated from the Walker Township High School. She was a member of the Penns Valley God's Missionary Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning and other homemaking activities. During World War II, Loretta worked at the Sylvania Plant in Lock Haven. Much of her life was devoted to being a homemaker and assisting on the family farm. Her life was devoted to serving her Savior. Her prayer was that her family would all be in Heaven together forever. Family and friends will be received at the Penns Valley God's Missionary Church, Route 45, Spring Mills, on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. with services starting at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Andrew Cooley, officiating. Burial will be in the Centre County Memorial Park, College Township, Centre County.
