Virginia was born on November 3, 1923 in Martinsburg, WV, and was the daughter of the late Cecil Lewis Jackson and Cordelia Lewis Jackson.
She graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1941 and attended The University of Maryland, Prince George’s Community College and American University. She retired from the Department of Air Force, Andrews Air Force Base, Camp Springs, MD where she was Base Librarian for 20 years. She was a member of the Falling Waters Presbyterian Church, where she edited the newsletter for 20 years. She was also a past member of Clinton United Methodist Church, Clinton, MD. She was a member of the National Library Association, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and a member of and past President of the auxiliary of City Hospital, Martinsburg. She was also a member of the International Chapter P.E.O. Sisterhood of Martinsburg, WV Chapter.
She is survived by one son, Norman A. Snyder, III, and daughter-in-law Betty Neufer Snyder; one grandson, Michael Jackson Snyder; one granddaughter, Jennifer Stone and husband Bryant; one great-grandson, Hawkins Stone; one brother, Charles L. Jackson of Frederick, MD., and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman A. Snyder, Jr. whom she married in 1942; one sister, Elsie Cogswell and brother-in-law Jack Cogswell.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Falling Waters Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jeffrey Shull officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Falling Waters Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
