MISHAWAKA, IN - Nina Elizabeth Carter, 77, of Mishawaka, passed away during the early morning hours of September 30 in her residence surrounded by her loving family, as a result of her courageous 4-year battle with breast cancer.

Nina was born on December 12, 1940 in Florence, Alabama to the late Coy and Lois (Holt) Wright. In South Bend, on January 27, 1962 she married the love of her life, Roy C. Carter. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2014. Nina retired from Uniroyal after many years. She attended the Southside General Baptist Church.

Nina is survived by her loving children, R. Michael (Sharon) Carter and Kimberly K. LaFluer, both of Mishawaka. She was the proud grandmother of two, Elizabeth (Myles) Dillon and Rebecca (Chris) Brittain, both of Elkhart; one great-granddaughter, Nora Kay Brittain, six-step grandchildren, and ten step-great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, October 3, from 4:00PM until 7:00PM, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., and from 10:00AM until service time at the church. A service celebrating Nina's life will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday, October 4 at the Southside General Baptist Church, with Pastor Jeff Little. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Fairview Cemetery of Mishawaka.
