Indian Campaigns Medal of Honor Recipient. He was born in Davidson County, North Carolina and entered the U.S. Army in Indianapolis, Indiana. He died near Jonesboro, Arkansas. He served as a Private in Company A, 7th U.S. Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for action on August 9, 1877 at Big Hole, Montana. His citation reads "After having been severely wounded in right shoulder, continued to do duty in a most courageous manner."
