Mr. D. J. Hassett

At the age of 77, the death occurred last week of Mr. Daniel Joseph Hassett, of Cannon Hill. Deceased was associated with the stock business all his life, and was well known for his feats with the blockwhip, and in his early days as a horseman.

Born at Benalla, Vic., he was a son of the late John Hassett, and as a young man was a prominent footrunner in the days when the sport was booming. He worked for Sidney Kidman for many years, and was also with Powers, Rutherford, and Co., of Melbourne. Coming to Queensland in 1911, he worked for the N. Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., and until a year ago reported on the Cannon Hill markets for "Queensland Country Life."

The late Mr. Hassett's wife and a daughter predeceased him, and he is survived by three sons, Messrs. Herbert, Charles and Harold Hassett, all of Cannon Hill.
