Howard John Appel, age 92, a retired poultry farmer, of Las Vegas, passed away July 5, 2011. He was born Aug. 1, 1918, in Wolsey, S.D. He was raised in and around Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County, Calif.

Howard traveled to many different countries both for work and in the U.S. Army during World War II. He attended college at USC.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Appel; mother, Lydia (Schorg) Appel; brother, Raymond Eugene (deceased day he was born in June 1, 1922) buried at Wolsey, SD.

Howard resided in Nevada for 30 years.
