Dorothy M Gordon, 75, Joliet, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at her residence. Funeral services were held 10 a.m., Monday, March 27, at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home in Joliet with the Rev Robert Haigh officiating. Visitation was Sunday 4-8 p.m. Interment and graveside services were Tuesday, March 28, 10 a.m. at the Peniel Cemetery in rural Aledo (Joy).
Memorials may be left to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the American Legion Band Scholarship Fund.
She was born in Mercer Township, a Joliet resident since 1964. She is a retired manager of the Army Surplus Store in Joliet after 14 years; member of Trinity United Methodist Church; American Legion Band Boosters; and a volunteer at Joliet Bi-Centennial Park. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening.
Survivors include her husband: Leonard Goardon; daughter: Sharon (Ron) Jack; three sons: Randy; John (Barbara); and Alan (Brenda) Gordon; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister: Betty Jean Griffith; two half sisters: Helen (Glenn) Clark; and Kathy (Jack) Hazen; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Earnest F & Margaret F (Armstrong) Smith; one daughter: Vicki McDonald; three half brothers: Burt, Bob & Lyle Smith.
