Jana Lee (Green) White, 82, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away September 29, 2018 at West River Health Campus. She was born January 19, 1936 in Mt. Vernon, IN to the late Robert E. and Dorothy (Layer) Green. Janie was a 1954 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. She graduated from Indiana University in 1958 with a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics. Janie retired in 2009 after working as a registered dietitian for Owensboro Daviess County Hospital, the VA Hospital in Evansville, the Evansville State Hospital and numerous nursing homes. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and a former member of Zion UCC of Owensboro. Janie was also a member of the Dietetics Association, Diabetes Association and the Pilot Club of Owensboro.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Neal; brother, David Green; and father of her children, William White. She is survived by her son, Robert (Mary) White of Nicholasville, KY; daughter, Susan (Pete) Wilson of Bellevue, KY; grandchildren, Preston, Alexander and Aubrey White, Lena and Peter Wilson; brother, Dick (Jackie) Green; nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Trinity United Church of Christ, 505 Mulberry St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Rev. Jamie Kent officiating and burial to follow in Immanuel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN and from 10:00 am until 11:00 am service time on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, Immanuel United Church of Christ or Kindred Hospice of Evansville. Published in Courier Press on Oct. 1, 2018
