A Funeral Service for Mr. Montague will be held at 3 P.M. Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Personal remarks will be given by Mr. Montague’s children, Monica Gallimore and Jim Montague, Jr. Interment will follow in the Somerville City Cemetery. A visitation for Mr. Montague will be from 2 to 3 P.M. Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville.
Jim was born February 19, 1936 in Somerville, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Fayette County High School Class of 1954 and served his country in the United States Army. He was a Memphis business owner for over 30 years and was a fixture in the South Main District of Downtown Memphis, often referred to as the “John Wayne of South Main”. He was of the Church of Christ faith and enjoyed drawing, watching westerns and singing.
Mr. Montague is survived by his daughter, Monica Gallimore (Kevin) of Lakeland, TN; his son, Jim Montague, Jr. (Audra) of Hernando, MS; his brother, John G. Montague (Gwen) of Memphis, TN; and three grandchildren, Griffin Gallimore, Kaity Gallimore and Lillian Montague.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Raymond Montague and Rubye Loraine Henry Montague and two brothers, Jack Montague and Jesse Montague.
