Mr. Billy Donald Maxwell, MSGT, US Air Force Retired, age 78 of Gainesville, Georgia passed away Thursday, August 1, 2013.

Mr. Maxwell was born on February 15, 1935 in Rockmart, Georgia, son of the late James Wallace Maxwell and the late Lenora Sorrells Maxwell. He was a graduate of the Rockmart High School Class of 1952 and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Maxwell retired from both the United States Air Force with 26 years of service and the Federal Penitentiary System having worked in Atlanta. He lived most of his life in Stone Mountain and enjoyed several years in Gainesville. He enjoyed sports with a special addiction to the Georgia Bulldogs. Mr. Maxwell was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Raymond Wallace Maxwell; sister, Ms. Norma Jean Maxwell; and two brothers, Mr. Larry Maxwell and Mr. J. W. Maxwell.

Survivors include a son, Joseph Maxwell of McDonough; grandson, Christopher Wallace Maxwell; nieces and nephews also survive.
