Betty Jane Fischer, 88, of Benton Harbor, went to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, September 23, 2017.
Betty was born June 7, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Nick & Rose (Scharf) Lesch. The family moved to the Benton Harbor area where Betty graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1948.
On October 28, 1950, she married Harold Fischer in Benton Harbor.
Betty worked for the Fidelity Company in Benton Harbor before starting her family. Later she worked for Helaine’s in downtown Benton Harbor before starting her career as a secretary for the Benton Harbor Area Schools, retiring after 17 ½ years. Betty was a member of the Blue Roof Church where she was active in Women’s Ministries and with the Mission’s Board. She was a volunteer for many years at Lakeland Hospital and in her free time, Betty enjoyed cooking, baking, reading & writing poetry.
