Robert “Bob” Caldwell King, age 91, of Dalton, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Morningside of Dalton.

He was born December 3, 1926 in Lenoir City TN to Maybelle Cargal and William E King. He moved to Dalton as a small child with his family as his dad began the family business of King and Sons Dry-cleaning. He proudly served his country in WWII in the United States Navy aboard the USS Catamount. As a young 18-year-old leaving Dalton for the first time he loved to tell that he knew he would return from war since the ship he was stationed was his high school mascot, the Catamounts. Some may remember his Standard Oil business on Glenwood Avenue where he met and served so many in Dalton during his years in business. And he later worked with his friend and coworker at Downtown Chevron, Don Foster.Bob was a loyal, honorary member of Dalton First Methodist thru many visits, television and the homebound ministry that meant so much to him. He attended Central Church of Christ with his family on many occasions, and was member of Grove Level Baptist.

He was preceded in death in 1997 by his wife, Frances Beach King, of 50 years whom he never stopped loving and missing, an infant daughter, Brenda in 1954 and by his brothers, sisters, sisters in laws and brothers in law, they were not only his siblings and their spouses, but his friends and he missed them all: Charles and Blanche Beach, Liz Beach, Pharris Beach, Ray and Mary Coker, Alfred and Becky King, Dewey and Jo King, Ed and Ruby King, Jack and Cecil King, Jack Hall, Preston and Margaret Self.

Bob is survived, loved and remembered by his son and his wife, Bobby and Jane Holloway King; granddaughter, Jenifer King Cooper; great grandson, Tristen Cooper; grandson Philip and his wife Cyndi; great grandson and granddaughter Cole and Kate King, all of Dalton, daughter and her husband, Patti K and Barry D Gober of Dalton; grandson, Blake E and his wife Becky Bisson Gober; great grandson and great granddaughter, Emory and Kingsley Gober, of Johns Creek, GA; grandson Spencer K Gober of Boston MA; sister-in-law Connie Beach Cargal of Dalton; sisters and neighbors, Barbara Hall and Wanda King.
