Charles “Woody” W. Higginbotham, 65, of Paden City, WV died Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.
Woody was born April 21, 1953 in New Martinsville, WV; son of the late Robert K. Higginbotham and Barbara L. Broadwater.
He was a retired teacher for Randolph County School System. A lifetime love for trains, both model and life-size and he was a member of WVEA and RCEA. Woody was the co-valedictorian of Paden City High School Class of 1971. He was a member of the Zanesville Memorial Concert Band, Helvetia Folk Dance and President of Helvetia Restoration Committee. Woody was an avid WVU fan. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Paden City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three cousins, Bob Higginbotham, Craig Broadwater and Junella Broadwater.
Surviving are his sister, Lark Higginbotham; two aunts, Nancy (Walton) Christman and Judy Heasley; cousins, Chuck (Pat) Higginbotham, Ann (Lou) DiDonato, Ellen Ashooh, Pam (Rolf) Baglein, Mark Broadwater, Julie (Wayne) Burkhardt, Beth Coleman, Jon (Kimberly) Broadwater, Kirk (Julie) Broadwater, Karma Malone, Rhonda Michaels, Lee Ann Broadwater, Harry Culotta, Joseph Culotta, Lance (Lisa) Heasley, Heather Heasley, Kelsi Heasley and Jenifer Christman; good friend, Kathy Brake and several friends.
Friends received 2 - 8 p.m., Friday, September 14, 2018 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City, WV, where service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018 with Pastor Sheri Kernik officiating. The family asked folks to wear either green and white or blue and gold. Burial at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made, in Woody’s name, to Paden City High School Band, 201 N 4th Ave., Paden City, WV 26159 or Tygart’s Valley Band, 219 US 250, Mill Creek, WV 26280.
A memorial service will be held in Helvetia at a later time.
