Mr. Montgomery passed away September 30, 2016, in Canton. He was born April 2, 1930, in Canton to Clarence and Ollie Lenor Montgomery.
Gerald was a member of the Wallace United Methodist Church. He grew up in Canton and lived in Oak Cliff for many years before returning to Canton. Mr. Montgomery worked for Vitalic Battery Company in Dallas for many years and then for the Canton School District. He was also a farmer and a wood cutter. Gerald loved to volunteer at the Van Zandt County Veterans Memorial.
Mr. Montgomery is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margie Montgomery; brother, Lewis Montgomery; and two sisters: Marie McKinnon and Grace Coburn.
Gerald is survived by his brother, Ronald “Red” Montgomery and his wife, Linda, of Canton; niece, Mellony Montgomery of Canton; great nephew, Ridge Taylor; niece, Jean Menough; five nephews: Kirby Montgomery, Kelly Montgomery, Kevin Montgomery, Larry McKinnon and Dan McKinnon; and two step-daughters: Pam Sitzes and Paula Hutchens.
