Hugh Bain, his wife Elizabeth Rachel Townsen Bain, and their children lived in Calloway County, Kentucky, during the 1830s - 1850s. During the mid-1850s, the family moved to Carroll County, Tennessee, and lived there until they moved to Graves County, Kentucky, during the winter of '64. They lived there until 1871 when Hugh's widow and children came to Lampasas County in the Adamsville area. Sometime before the move to Texas to live near Elizabeth's brother, Uncle Perry Townsen, Hugh died, perhaps in the Civil War. This Find-A-Grave memorial will serve as a centotaph to his memory, even though he is not buried here in Townsen Cemetery.
