Edward L. "Ed," Vanderhoof, 52

Edward L. "Ed," Vanderhoof, 52, of Lyndonville, died Sunday morning, July 23, 2006, at Littleton Regional Hospital in Littleton, N.H., following a 10-year battle with Multiple Myloma.

He was born July 8, 1954, in Ticonderoga, N.Y., the son of Leroy and Helen (Gurge) Vanderhoof. Following high school, Ed entered the U.S. Navy, serving six years in Virginia, where he studied for and became an optician for the Navy, and later in the private sector.

On July 19, 1973, he married Victoria (Facteau). They lived in Virginia for 12 years before moving to Lyndonville, Vt., in 1984. Ed worked for Littleton Eye Care Center under Dr. William Holmes until 1995 when his illness forced him to retire.

Ed was a member of the Knights of Columbus (a 3rd degree Knight) and was an active parishioner at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Lyndonville. He was a member of the Lyndonville Rotary Club for several years.

An avid fisherman, hunter and sportsman, he loved the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki Vanderhoof of Lyndonville; two children, Kristin McLean and her husband Matthew of St. Johnsbury, Vt., and Steven Vanderhoof and his wife Susan of Barre, Vt.; four grandchildren, Conor, Tori, Christopher and Cassandra; his parents, Leroy and Helen Vanderhoof of Port Henry, N.Y.; two sisters, Susan Carson and her companion Steve Gagne of Keesville, N.Y., and Rosemarie Vanderhoof of Port Henry, N.Y.; his mother in-law, Verna Facteau of Ticonderoga, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law, Deborah Gregware of Moriah, N.Y., and Patricia Frost and her husband Rodney of Marion, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Jon Facteau and his wife Deborah of Ticonderoga, N.Y.; and many close friends.

He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Varnum Facteau, July 15, 2006.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 27, at 11 a.m., at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Lyndonville, Vt., with the Rev. Patrick Forman celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, also in Lyndonville. There will be no visiting hours.
