"Tishia" was the daughter of Bennett Easterling and Mary Anne E. (Hicks) Easterling. Her father and mother left Alabama in 1871 intending to go to Bell Co., TX to be near family. They stopped and purchased a farm in Henderson Co., TX because the Trinity river was on the rise. Her father and a brother died of malaria in 1874 when she was seven years old. Her mother sold the farm, loaded the family in a wagon and moved to Bell Co., TX, purchasing a farm near Cottonwood creek between Temple and Oenaville near the farm of "Ail" and Martha (Coop) Bigham. "Tishia" and Newt Bigham went to school together.
"Tishia" married Newt Wilson Bigham June 26, 1884 in Bell County, Texas. They had eleven living children when he died. She lived as a widow for thirty years and left her children the family farm which was 160 acres east of Troy, near the Bottoms community.
