Edith was born on September 3, 1931.

While she was out with her sister, Sarah, one night, she met Billy Frank McDaniel. They fell in love and married in 1973.

In 1976 my husband, Billy Don, and I drove to Dallas to visit his father and still fairly new, step-mother Edith. We enjoyed the time we spent with his family.

Billy Don had missed his mother, Dorothy Lee (Anthony) McDaniel very much; she passed away in 1970.

Billy Frank and Edith came visit with us in Arizona in 1977; our daughter, Dorothy, was born in 1978. Even though my husband and I divorced years later, I remained good friends with Edith and Billy Frank.

When my daughter and I moved to Salem, NH in 1985 they drove to the east coast to visit with us. In 1986 we had moved back to Arizona and they came to visit with us again. We always enjoyed the times that we spent with them. Billy Frank told me that he would be going to the hospital for surgery when they returned to Dallas, TX.

Soon after that Edith called me at work to tell me that he was not doing well. I flew to Dallas to be with her and Billy Frank's family. I could see how tired she was; her voice was heavy with sadness and despair. She had remained with him long hours during the day and night. Soon after that he passed away; leaving Edith alone.

My daughter and I drove to Dallas in 1987 to visit with her. She lived next door to her sister, Sarah. They were very close. Sarah, like Edith, was a very likable person.

During our visit with Edith, we stayed close to home because she was hooked up to an oxygen machine and back then they weren't as portable as they are now but it was nice just being with her.

She was a down-to-earth person who I loved chatting with on the phone. She was the kind of friend you had for life. I had heard that Edith needed hospital care and I sent flowers and cards wishing her well. Her daughter, Virginia, called me a few days later to tell me that she had passed away. I felt sad but was happy to hear Virginia say her Mom had smiled when she saw the cards and flowers I had sent to her.

I miss Edith; she will always be in my thoughts and prayers.
