Brenda Gayton Barnes, age 69, of Morganton, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Gayton officiating. Interment will follow in the McHelen Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Brenda was a member of McHelen Baptist Church and retired from childcare. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, shopping, laughing and having a good time. Brenda loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Barnes and Parents, Rev. James and Dot Gayton; survivors include her children, Andrea Brooks (Blake) and Sharon Barnes; grandchildren, Alexis Brooks and Brett Brooks; siblings, Wayne Gayton (Patricia) and Myra Gayton (Frank DeLoach); honorary sister, Joyce Strickland; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
