BRIDGEPORT—Mrs. Ella Andrews Brown, 99, of Route 31 died Monday at Community-General Hospital, Syracuse, after a short illness.
She was a native of Cicero. She was a former post-mistress of Bridgeport, a post she held for 44 years until her retirement several years ago.
Mrs. Brown was the former owner and operator of a Bridgeport grocery store. She is survived by a son, Richard A. of Bridgeport, a former state assemblyman; a daughter, Mrs. Dortha Strong of Syracuse; two grand-children and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Traub Funeral Home, Route 31, Bridgeport. The Rev. Frank Congdon will officiate. Burial will be in Bridgeport Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Bridgeport United Methodist Church or to the Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children.
