Joseph Atkinson passed away at home with his wife, children, and sons-in-law by his side. He was born 4-20-1946 to Jimmy and Gustavia Atkinson. He is preceded in death by his father Jimmy Atkinson and brothers Henry Lee and Jimmy Atkinson Jr. of Bolton MS. Joseph came up to Alaska in the Army, left, returned back in 1974, met his wife, had 4 children, and never left again. He worked 40 years for the U.S. Postal Service after leaving the Army. He loved Alaska and its people. He is survived by his wife Ann, children Anthony, Michelle, Chanelle, and Nichelle Atkinson, sons-in law Robert Hubbard, Keegan Brow and Abdullah Nasirudeen, all of Anchorage, sons Joseph Jr. and Reginald Atkinson, both of California, step children Kathy, Brenda, Robert, and Leonard, 22 grandchildren, Many great -grandchildren, brothers Rochester and Willie Atkinson, and mother Gustavia Atkinson of Bolton MS.
