Samuel was a private in the 208th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Company I (Civil War).

The son of Samuel & Susanna Albright, in 1860 he was a farmer living in Buffalo Township, Perry County, Pennsylvania. He stood 5' 11" tall and had dark hair and brown eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Harrisburg September 3, 1864, mustered into federal service there September 6 as a private with Co. I, 208th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company June 1, 1865.

He married Susanna Snyder and fathered Emma C. (b. @1866), John Henry (b. 08/13/74), Leah Elizabeth (b. @1878), and Esther (b. @1878).
