Reginald Lee "Good Hands / Hollywood" Henderson

Reginald Lee Henderson was born on November 12, 1956, in Charlottesville, VA. Reginald grew up in Orange County, Virginia with his siblings and parents. He attended Orange County High School. After high school, Reginald went to Job Corps in Salt Lake City, Utah where he took training to become a small engine mechanic.

As an adult, Reginald moved to Atlantic City where he worked various jobs in the casino business. He lived in Atlantic City for many years and as a result earned various nicknames from friends. The two names that appealed most to Reginald were: “Good Hands” and “Hollywood Henderson”. While these names are fun, most people called him “Reggie”. Reggie later returned to Orange County to live. He labored as a drywall finisher for many years and thus mastered the profession. Family and friends often called upon him to “finish” a room or patch a hole.

In 2001, Reggie married his longtime love LaVerne Cannedy. He was a loving husband and devoted father. Upon marriage, Reggie attended church services with his wife and family at The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith--where they grew in grace and knowledge of Christ together. As a young child, Reggie was baptized at Mount Zion Baptist church where his parents and siblings attended services. Throughout the years, he returned to Mount Zion to worship and fellowship.

Reggie was the life of the party everywhere he went. His charisma and quick wit drew people to him. He often used favorite names to call others such as: “Moton-Gator”, “Curtain Climber” or “River-Rat”. He loved to play horseshoes, cards and bowl. Reggie thoroughly enjoyed life, especially making others laugh. On Sundays you could find him watching football and cheering on the Redskins. His favorite pastime was spending time with his friends and family. He was kind, selfless, witty, caring, and extremely outgoing. He was always ready to crack a joke and bless you with a smile.

He is preceded in death by his parents Charles Lewis and Frances Henderson, and his brother Joseph Henderson. To honor and cherish memories of him, he leaves behind his wife, LaVerne Cannedy-Henderson; son, Donovan; daughter, Christian; and grandson, Cameron; three brothers: Floyd, Charles Edward, Roger (Subrema) Henderson; six sisters: Josephine Harris, Vera Coleman (Larry), Connie, Evelyn, Jewel and Teresa Henderson. He also leaves three brother-in laws, six sister-in-laws and a multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Take your rest in Christ our beloved Reggie. We will see you when the trumpet sounds! (I Corinthians 15:52)
