John P. Fahey, 67, died at his home, 107 S. Levitt St., Saturday. He had been ill since Sept. 15. Born in Ithaca March 15, 1879, he was the son of Michael and Mary Graham Fahey. He came to Rome at the age of 23 years and prior to that was a professional acrobat. He entered the employ of the Rome Gas and Electric Light Co. He remained with its successor, the Central New York Power Corp. until he retired Sept. 30, 1945. In Oct. 1933 he was severely burned by electric current while working at the Kingsley Ave. plant of the company and was critically ill for several months. More recently he had been employed at the Rome terminal of the Barge Canal until stricken ill. In Rome on June 21, 1902 he married Bessie Mansfield. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and its Holy Name society, also of the Benjamin D. Smith camp, Modern Woodsmen of America. Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Robert G. Payne and Mrs. Margaret McConnell, both of Rome, and Mrs. Howard Allspaugh, New Haven, Conn., one son, Milo P. Fahey, Rome, one brother, Patrick Fahey of Ithaca, 16 grandchildren, including Milo Patrick Fahey who made his home with his grandparents and is now stationed at Fort Belvior, Va, and several nieces and nephews.
