Rodney E. Scott, 77, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on September 26, 2018 at his residence.

He was born November 18, 1940 in Butler,Pennsylvania to the late Edward Scott and the late Garnet Bauman Scott.

Rodney worked for Butler Armco retiring in 1997after 38 years. Rodney was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Herman, PA. He was a member of Herman Volunteer Fire Co., RC Men's Club, VFW Post #249 of Butler, Summit Twp Sportsman Club, NRA, Happy Hunters, Buffalo Valley Sportsman Club, Knights of Columbus Council 11388, American Legion Post #683 of Saxonburg, PA, and St. Mary Assumption and ushers club.

Rodney worked on many farms in the Butler Area. He became an avid gardener and was known for growing tons of garlic claiming it was his medicine. Rodney coached many of his sons' baseball teams. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and trips to Iowa with his boys. Rodney bowled in many leagues for over 50 years. For the past 9 years, he has been in charge of the St. Mary Fish Fry. He served as a Summit Twp Supervisor for18 years. Rodney taught first aid for 27 years. Over the years, he threw horse shoes in many leagues.

Rodney is survived by his wife, Gail, who he married on August 29, 1964, two sons and their wives, five grandchildren, two brothers and their wives and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild, Rachael Scott, one brother,Edward Scott, two sisters, Georgia Turner and Beverly Haley.

Friends will be received Sunday, September 30, 2018, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Thompson -Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018, 10:00 am at the Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, 821 Herman Road Butler, PA, with Fr. Ward Stakem, OFM, Cap., officiating.

Burial will take place in the St. Mary's Cemetery.

Officers and members of the VFW Post #249 of Butler, American Legion Post #683 of Saxonburg, American Legion Post #117 of Butler and American Legion Post #778 of Lyndora will conduct military honors at graveside.
