Debra Renee Riley, 61, of Columbia passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.

She was born on October 7, 1956 in Lebanon, MO to R. Newton Riley and Joyce Ilene (Eilenstine) Riley.

Debby was a 1973 graduate of University High School in Columbia, who went on to further her education at Columbia College and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Education in 1978. After obtaining her degree from Columbia College, Debby went to work at Cedar Ridge Elementary in 1979 and was employed with Columbia Public Schools for the next 32 years. Debby loved being a teacher and loved her students, she was one of those people that never looked at teaching as a job because it was her passion in life. She had such a desire to learn that she went back and obtained her master’s in education from the University of Missouri in 1996. Following her employment with Columbia Public Schools, she served as the Director of First Baptist Church Child Development Center from 2012 to 2017. In addition to her love for teaching and her students, Debby was also a big Elvis Presley fan and collected a variety of Elvis memorabilia. Debby also had a great amount of love to give to her pets, and more than anything else she loved to spend time with her family whom she loved dearly. She will be missed by all and anyone who got the privilege of knowing Debby will forever cherish her memory.

Debby is survived by her father R. Newton Riley; two sisters: Becky Riley Rudd (Terry) and Robin Riley (Russ Tarr); one nephew: Justin Riley (Megan); one niece: Riley Martin; and two great nephews: Jackson and Landon Riley.
