He was born on March 8, 1929 in Hillsboro, Texas to Carl W. and Gladys (Wells) Foster. Bill retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Boatswain’s Mate in 1969, after 22 years of service, which included World War II, Korea and the Vietnam War. He was salty. After his retirement from the Navy, Bill worked in a variety of careers in central Texas, from being a Fireman to co-owner of an HVAC installation and repair business in Hillsboro, Texas, to working in industrial maintenance at the West Hospital, where he also drove the ambulance, and at multiple long-term care facilities. Bill was a Mason with the George N. Denton Masonic Lodge #24 in Waco, Texas. He had many fond memories that provided him with the greatest stories.
Bill was a kind, loving and devoted Son, Brother, Husband, Uncle, Father, PawPaw and Friend. Bill was the Perfect Example of a Servant Leader. Bill lived a Purposeful life every day that was driven by his fearless, stubborn determination. You could always count on him. He truly lived a selfless life.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Willa Dean (Renfro) Foster, his grandson, Jody Landry, brothers, Paul, John and Garner and sisters, Imogene and DoraDell, and his second wife Jane (Cowan) Foster. Bill is survived by his son, William Lawrence (Larry) Foster and his wife, Rebecca, and his grandchildren Jacquelyn (Jacque) and Kristopher Foster, daughter, Joy Landry, his brother, James Foster and wife Ruth, sister Ruby Payne, sister-in-law Chloe Foster, brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Barbara Wallace and Lavern and David Holcomb and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
