Manitowoc - LaVerne Frances Hartlaub, 92, of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Monday, September 24, 2018 at home.

LaVerne was born on August 5, 1926, in School Hill to the late Alvin and Philomena (Minnie) Wallander Hickmann. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943 and from Manitowoc County Normal in 1945, teaching at rural one room schools in Newton and Valders. On June 22, 1946, she married Victor Hartlaub. They lived in Osman and later farmed in School Hill. He preceded her in death on January 21, 1978. LaVerne later moved to Manitowoc. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and a good card game. LaVerne valued her faith, family, and friends.

Survivors include her seven children, David (Rosemary) of Cleveland; Gerald (Kathy) of Delavan; Sharon (Gary) Mueller of Newton; Carol Jean (Bill) Degeneffe of Neenah; Brian (Pam) of Kiel; Randy of Kiel; Jeff (Kim) of Kiel; 28 grandchildren, Laurie (Vittorio) Bolognesi, Elizabeth (Nick) Ruhland, Alissa (fiance Robert Schnitzlein), Colleen (Joe) Dimig, Rachel, Bethany, Matthew, Anna, Paul (Aliesha), Nathan, Micah, Joseph, Eric Mueller, Sara (Mike) Wolfert, David Mueller, Katie Mueller, Kristin Degeneffe, Megan Degeneffe, Brian, Brenda (Jack) Valukas, Brianna, Amanda, Jennifer, Isaiah, Julia, Tom, Ashleigh (fiance Alex Van Deurzen), and Alex; 11 great grandchildren, Luca, Gian Marco, Leo, Gavin, Bryce, Addison, Ethan, Ana, Nolan, Natalie, and Hannah; sister, Joan Brennan, Sheboygan; four sisters-in-law, Caroline Hickmann, Phyllis Hickmann, Geri Hartlaub, LaVerne Leitermann; also other relatives and friends. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Marian (Hilary) Wojta, Eugene Hickmann, Norbert Hickmann, and Ron (Judy) Hickmann; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Al (Liz) Hartlaub, Mathilda (Ralph) Schroeder, Isadore (Agnes) Hartlaub, Henry (Marie) Hartlaub, Rudy Hartlaub, Betty Hartlaub, Clem Hartlaub and Francis Leitermann; and grandson, Moses Hartlaub.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 11928 Marken Road, Kiel, WI. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Anthony Ibekwe. Burial will be at a later date at Holy Trinity Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the service at 4 p.m.
